Filler Metals

Arc Welding Electrodes

Nothing Compares. WIA Austarc electrodes are still what professional welders rely on for the best results.

WIA has a reputation for delivering high quality filler metal products, especially arc welding electrodes, for the industrial user.

WIA’s comprehensive range of stick welding electrodes includes: general purpose welding electrodes, low hydrogen welding electrodes, iron powder welding electrodes, cellulose welding electrodes, stainless steel electrodes, cast iron welding electrodes and gouging and cutting welding electrodes.  All WIA mma electrodes provide quality welding results for a range of sheet metals / base metals including mild steel, stainless steel, carbon steel and more.

One of the most popular arc welding electrodes in WIA’s range is the Austarc 16TC low hydrogen stick electrode. This metal arc welding electrode has set the industry standard for over 40 years when it comes to smooth running characteristics, arc stability, ease of use, and metal toughness. Manufactured using a unique twin coating extrusion process, the Austarc 16TC welding electrode is designed for AC or DC power sources. When combined with a DC Inverter, you have an excellent combination for a range of welding solutions – and one that is cost effective and suited to less developed skills.

For stainless steel welding, WIA has a range of stainless steel arc welding electrodes to suit your arc welding machine for example the staincord 316L-16 stick electrode, which provides extra smooth running, high arc stability, easy re-strike, excellent slag removal and bead appearance.

Using WIA's arc welding rods for stick welding will ensure optimal weld results for a range of applications including structural steel, pipe welding, rural, repair and maintenance and much more.

If you need help with your electrode selection take a look at our WIA Austarc electrode selection chart here.

If you’re looking for a new stick welder or TIG welder the Weldarc 145i and 185i TIG and stick welders are perfect choice. Best suited to the stick welding process, the 145i and 185i power sources and together with WIA’s range of stick electrodes are the perfect match. Together they’ll allow the operator to strike an arc with ease and provide stick results that will be hard to beat.

On the other hand, if you have a multi-process welding machine and need to switch welding process from Stick to MIG welding, WIA also have a wide range of MIG welding wires. The Austfil T-11 self-shielding flux cored MIG wire is a great choice. Suitable for any welding position including overhead welding, the T-11 doesn’t require a shielding gas bottle (gas cylinder bottles are not needed), so users will save on gas bottle costs. It offers a yield strength of 430 MPa, a tensile strength of 530 MPa and elongation of 24%.

Not all welders are the same. While MIG welding machines use welding wires, TIG welding machines use tungsten electrodes and Arc welding machines use arc electrodes. When welding, the application and materials to be welded should determine which is the most suitable welding machine.

WIA offers a full range of equipment, including MIG Welders, Arc & TIG Welders, MIG & Multi-Process and plasma cutters. You can check out the full range here.

In addition, WIA also provides a range of MIG, Stick and TIG accessories including MIG guns and TIG torches. You can find them here.

One of the most important aspects of choosing your welding equipment is to ensure that your personal protective welding equipment is effective. Whether you are arc welding, gas welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, Stick welding, or any other type of welding, you should ensure that your welding safety has every area covered.

When it comes to helmets, WIA offers a selection of welding helmets that are suitable for any type of welding. From the WIA Blue to the Miller Digital Infinity, if you are MIG welding, Arc welding or TIG welding you can find a wide selection of auto-darkening welding helmets here.

MIG Welding Gloves are also an essential welding apparel as they provide maximum protection and comfort while welding. WIA's premium quality MIG gloves are the welders choice when it comes to hand protection. Other protection gear should also be considered. Whether your welding or working on welding related tasks safety boots and safety goggles / welding goggles should form part of your protective gear.
