“Recently I installed 150 meters of stainless steel handrail on a coastal boardwalk where TIG welding was required to join posts and rails, a job that I had done many times in my 30 years of experience. Welding outdoors and exposed to sunlight, I noticed my helmet would flicker between dark and light shades which caused loss of productivity, poor weld quality along with headaches and frustration. I put this flickering down to the sun and water reflection triggering the sensors, and tried adjusting the helmet sensitivity and delay functions however nothing would fix the problem.
After a few days I got more and more frustrated. I contacted a few people along with my suppliers to share my pain. That’s where my world changed. I was introduced to the Miller Digital Infinity Welding Helmet with X-Mode Technology which is exclusive to Miller. It works by electromagnetically sensing the weld, allowing the helmet to only darken when I start to weld. It’s a game changer!
The sun could shine all day, or my sensors could be blocked and I wouldn’t even know! The helmet is also comfortable, and has a nice list of features too, including a digital control and my weld view was noticeably clearer and brighter. I’m now back in my workshop, and still using the Miller Helmet. If you weld outdoors or out of position, I highly recommend looking a little closer at what is available on the market. Seriously consider Miller. Once you experience Miller’s X-Mode technology you’ll never look back.
Thanks WIA and Miller."
