As an ardent baseball player, Michael knows the importance of good communication, team play and straight shooting. These are just some of the ‘what you see is what you get’ characteristics that he brings to his new role of Account Manager - Distribution based in Adelaide.
Not only does Michael work with WIA distributors in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory, but he also has responsibility for expanding contacts with end users, such as large engineering firms in SA and NT’s defence and mining sectors. His early experience as a qualified tradesman in the exacting stainless steel fabrication industry, topped with ten years as an industrial supplies sales representative, is helping him to build a close rapport with customers and colleagues alike.
Relationship building is a skill which has served him well throughout his career and which now fits well with WIA’s team-based approach to business. An easy conversationalist, Michael rates contact with people as the best part of his job. He understands the industry, and the people in it, well and is thriving in the company’s culture of customer service and support. He strives to keep his technical knowledge up-to-date but never hesitates to call on the expertise of other WIA industrial product specialists when needed.
Michael is looking forward to working more closely with WIA’s network of distributors, helping them to achieve their sales goals and ensuring they have all the information and support they need to serve customers large and small. As a qualified welder himself, he is ready and able to demonstrate the latest equipment and techniques to their staff, to ensure that they are fully versed with the capabilities of the latest machines and consumables available from WIA.
Born and raised in Mt Gambier, Michael has maintained his love of the land and still tries to find time for his beloved baseball between business trips and family commitments.
